Barbara Gallavotti is a writer, science populariser, author and television presenter. She is the co-creator, author and presenter of ‘Quinta Dimensione’, an in-depth science programme on air on Rai 3. For over twenty years she has been the author of well-known television programmes such as ‘Superquark’ and ‘Ulisse’ and a regular guest on ‘diMartedì’ on La7.
Several of her projects are aimed at building ‘scientific citizenship’, i.e. providing the information needed to make informed decisions on issues concerning our health, our impact on the planet or the role we want new technological tools to play in our lives. She has worked on radio programmes, curated science festivals and made documentaries and set up exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. She has been responsible for communications at the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and has served on various international committees for the popularisation of particle physics. In addition to numerous articles in Italian newspapers and magazines, she is the author of various publications, including Le grandi epidemie (2019), the children's book L'infinito dentro di me (2023), Confini invisibili (2022), Il futuro è già qui. What artificial intelligence can really do (2024).
