Maurizio De Giovanni

/Scrittore

Maurizio de Giovanni is an Italian writer, screenwriter and playwright. He is best known for the character of Commissioner Ricciardi, for the bastards of Pizzofalcone, and for Mina Settembre, protagonists of many of his works from which successful television series have been made.
In 2007 Fandango published Il senso del dolore. L'inverno del commissario Ricciardi, the first work inspired by the four seasons and which starts the investigations of the commissioner, followed in 2008 by La penale di sangue. La primavera del commissario Ricciardi, in 2009 Il posto di tutti. L'estate del commissario Ricciardi and in 2010 Il giorno dei morti. L'autunno del commissario Ricciardi. Since 2011 the saga has been continued and published by Einaudi. Ricciardi's adventures will become a Rai television series with Lino Guanciale in the role of the commissioner.
At the center of De Giovanni's novels we always find Naples, beautiful and at the same time disturbing, of which the writer reports colors, voices, contradictions, lights and shadows. Since 2013, again for Einaudi, he inaugurates the series of the bastards of Pizzofalcone, which marks the transition from classic noir to police procedural. Among the titles we remember, Darkness for the bastards of Pizzofalcone (2013), Puppies for the bastards of Pizzofalcone (2015), Souvenir for the bastards of Pizzofalcone (2017), Angels for the bastards of Pizzofalcone (2021), Rain for the bastards of Pizzofalcone (2024). The protagonist of the saga, Giuseppe Lojacono is played by Alessandro Gassmann in a successful TV series.
Also in 2013 he wrote a story for the anthology collection of Sellerio, A day of September at Christmas, in which the social worker Mina Settembre makes her debut (played on TV by Serena Rossi).
